History of our Strasburg Location

Village Insurance was established in 1950 & first known as Ray Alton Insurance located on 7th Street & Wooster Avenue in Strasburg. Alton specialized in life insurance & was locally recognized by his slogan “Tuck A Buck A Day Away”. Later, the agency was sold to Larry Watts who renamed the agency "Village Insurance" and moved it across town in 1977 to North Wooster Avenue where the business is still operating today. After years of working within the business Elaine Shelt purchased the agency and yet another transition followed in 2000 when brother & sister Tod Bonifant & Jody Troyer, who had worked in the agency since 1985 acquired the business. They worked diligently to grow the local business & in 2015 pursued the acquisition of Handrich's Insurance Agency out of Zoarville, Ohio. The two established a presence in the town of Strasburg, offering Home, Auto, Small Business & Farm insurance. Our agency purchased Village Insurance from Tod & Jody in January 2022, marking the opening of our third location!
